Tilly’s Dream of August 21, 2014
I find myself in a secret alcove of land, with Sean Dabbs, surrounded by dark green bushy trees. It is dark, just before the very first glimpse of sun, not quite dawn, but nearly. We are busy working out some meaning from the constellations in the stars due to an important project we are doing. Our relationship is very business like, but utterly connected, like we both know exactly what we are looking for, and the reason why we are there. I have a Tupperware tub, to collect samples. At one point we look up and see fiery arrows in a V shape of light, lots of them moving fast through the sky. I point this out to Sean, and we wonder if for a moment if we are seeing something supernatural. Then we realise that behind the bushy hedgerow, between it and a large field, there is a homeless man nesting for the night. He is making fire, and the fire is sending these arrows of light into the sky. They move like something alive and all are pointing in the same direction upward. I care for this old man, worry about him, then realise he is fine there, for he is making fire… and I suddenly realise what an extraordinary thing that is for a human being to do. Sean and I discuss perhaps eating some food with him, as he has plenty. In particular, he has fish.
Back at ‘my’ house, I am in ‘my room’. Sean is gone now. Virtual again. I am collating my evidence, and putting my findings onto my computer. I am observatory and conscious of my dream and how this relates to dreams shares, but also in my body too, doing what I need to do: Contacting Maria online wondering how I will translate the constellations and the math I have drawn on this paper onto the computer, as I don’t know how to scan it.
I will try and contain the joy this dream filled me with and, very calmly, point out what my heart and mind simultaneously gleaned from it, not necessarily in order:
We are seeking to connect with each other in the dream space. Each dreamer is a star, and a constellation is a connection between stars – between dreamers. When you and I and Sean connect, for example, that is one constellation as our three shining points of consciousness reaching out to each other – fiery arrows of light – define a dream space that is no more enclosed than the space inside the imagined figure of a constellation, but it does provide a framework of sorts, a mysterious map by which to chart our progress through our innermost depths.
Our consciousness, our sense of being, where did it come from? Is it merely a chemical accident of natural processes, a stellar coincidence? I don’t believe that for an instant. All of us here at Dreamshares have vividly experienced on multiple occasions the truth that our dreaming mind is able to transcend time and space and interact with other minds – other souls.
“Then, we realise, that behind the bushy hedgerow, between that and a large field, there is a homeless man nesting for the night. He is making fire and the fire is sending these arrows of light into the sky. They move like something alive and all pointing in the same direction upwards.”
My heart skipped a beat reading this part as I immediately felt this man was God-Christ, our Creator, homeless in the sense that science and “reason” has done its best to evict Him from our hearts and minds, leaving us in a spectacular but cold and soulless universe in which all our thoughts and feelings mean nothing in the end. As I said, I personally don’t believe that, of course. In your dream, I see God revealing that He is behind everything, that He is the source of the light of consciousness and the fire of our spirit. We are alive in a sense that transcends matter, and we are all pointing in the same direction, upward, by way of spiritual growth.
“he is making fire, and I suddenly realise what an extraordinary thing that is for a human being to do. We discuss perhaps eating some food with him, as he has plenty. In particular, he has fish.”
Again, Tilly, the allegorical beauty of this dream is aweinspiring to me. He has plenty alright, He has everything. You may be aware that the symbol for Christianity—before the institution of the church in the Dark Ages deliberately adopted the cross—was a fish. A fish was a sign drawn by Christians to identify each other as they hid from the authorities, and Christ multiplied fish on more than one occasion.
The discovery of fire, or the ability to create fire, marked a crucial moment in human evolution. Can it be argued that lucid dreaming, and by extension lucid dream sharing, mark a similar point in the evolution of human consciousness, in humanity’s spiritual evolution? I personally think so.
“At one point we look up and see fiery arrows in a V shape of light, lots of them moving fast through the sky.”
Geese often fly in a V shape, and in many traditions symbolize love and watchfulness. Lucid dreamers flying through the night, forming a group, leading the way, seeking each other, striving to connect beyond time and space. V is for Victory! 🙂
A positively brilliant dream, Tilly. I feel as though you gave me a personal gift by dreaming this. Thank you!
